Moisture indicators

Dry compressed air is essential to pneumatic applications. But what happens if moisture does get into your airline reducing the efficiency of your system applications? How do you know if moisture may be at a harmful level before equipment or products are damaged? Fortunately, moisture indicators are simple solutions to help monitor the relative humidity conditions inside your dry air line.

Airdryers.com’s color change moisture indicators make use of humidity sensing materials that turn from blue to pink with higher levels of moisture. They can be installed anywhere in the system after the air dryer, and at point-of-use.

These indicators vary in size and shape, and are available in two different forms. The first design uses a color-change paper that changes from a deep blue to bright pink as humidity levels increase. The second incorporates indicating silica gel granules with a coating of cobalt chloride. This chemical agent provides the color change.

The application of these moisture indicators provides an inexpensive method of monitoring your dry compressed air systems. Harmful conditions can be avoided by pinpointing a malfunction before the indicator turns bright pink. This will ensure stable conditions for the critical applications you require.

The color chart below shows the relative humidity associated with color changes.
